Our beloved Mother, Mary Louise Flagg Flanagan, 93, died peacefully February 3, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was born on March 26, 1928, in Brookline, MA the daughter of the late Jewett Taylor Flagg and Charlotte Brooks Flagg. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her husband William Stuart Flanagan, Sr., and her sister Nancy Ann Secor. She was devoted to the Lord and her family and loved being a member at All Saints Anglican Church.

Her parents relocated to Florence, AL where she spent her early years. She was an advanced equestrian and won the ages 13 and under World Championship for Five Gaited Horses on Queen of Hearts at Madison Square Gardens in 1939. She attended Saint Margaret’s School for Girls in Waterbury, CT, and graduated in 1948 from Pine Manor College in Brookline, MA. Returning home she married her long-time love, Bill. Mary Louise was defined by her style, intelligence, and quick wit. She had a sharp mind for strategies in business and life; was a voracious reader, loved animals, bridge, and playing the piano. Once she joined the Jackson-Madison County Library, she read over 1,000 books. She was independent and happy to remain living in her own home.
