Douglas G. Jones

Douglas G. Jones, 83, of Jackson, Tennessee, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on December 8, 1942, in Valdosta, Georgia, the son of the late Douglas G. Jones, Sr. and Bessie Sutley Smith Jones.

Mr. Jones was a man of faith whose life was closely connected to the church. Before moving to Jackson in 2018, he served as an Elder at Forest Park Church of Christ in Valdosta, Georgia. After making his home in Tennessee, he was a member of North Jackson church of Christ in Jackson. His steady devotion to his faith and church community remained an important part of his life.

In his younger years, Douglas enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was also an avid Georgia football fan, and he took special joy in whatever sport or activity his grandsons participated in, He was a 1966 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy with high honors in his class, receiving the Eli Lilly Award. He retired as an Oncology Pharmacist in Valdosta, GA where he and Margaret resided.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Ann Collier Jones of Jackson, Tennessee. He also leaves his son, Glynn Jones and his wife, Brandy, of Cedar Grove, Tennessee; his grandsons, Harriston and his wife Marissa G. Jones of Searcy, AR and Easton Jones of Cedar Grove, TN and his sister, Candee Jones Henry and her husband, Dan Henry, Sr. of Valdosta, GA

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Glynn Jones, Sr., and his mother, Bessie Sutley Smith Jones. He will be remembered with love by those who knew him and by the family who shared in his life.

SERVICES: A time with family and friends honoring Douglas's life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Obion Chapel Church Cemetery, 5456 Old Stage Road, Huntingdon, TN, with a committal service to be held at 5:00 p.m.

Pallbearers for the service will be Glynn Jones, Harriston Jones, Easton Jones, Dan Henry, Jr., Trey Henry and Ean Henry.
