CHANGE OF ADDRESS

After 81 years of making this world a better place, Dorothy Elaine Tibbs has officially changed her permanent address.

Former Address: Jackson, Tennessee New Address: Heaven Move-In Date: September 3, 2026 Reason for Move: God called her home. Heaven’s New Occupant: A fiercely faithful, tenacious, loyal, funny, caring, honest, and Godly woman who spent her earthly years preparing for this very day.

Elaine was talented in more ways that most people could count. She was an excellent cook, could keep a house better than anyone, and had a way of taking care of people that made them feel loved. She worked hard, loved deeply, laughed often, and was never afraid of a good fight—-especially when it came to someone or something she loved.

And what she loved most was God and her family.

During her years at her Tennessee address, Elaine made many people happy. Foremost among them was John, her husband of 59 years.

John remains at his earthly address for now, but Elaine always believed there was another home waiting for them both. Until his appointed moving day arrives, he will treasure the life they built together—the memories, traditions, laughter, family stories, and legacy they created side by side.

The jury is still out on which of her two children was her favorite.

Elaine proudly served as Momma to Amy Jacques (Andre) and Chad Tibbs (Robin) and there was never any question that she took her job seriously. She prayed fervently and faithfully over her children and frequently asked God to fill in any places where she felt she may have fallen short as a mother.

There were many things Elaine accomplished during her earthly residency, but she considered one mission more important than all the rest: GETTING HER FAMILY TO HEAVEN.

Elaine once compared her determination to save the souls of her family to Jacob wrestling with the angel. She said more than once that she “fought the devil for the souls of her family.”

And she did. She prayed. She worried. She loved. She encouraged. She sometimes fussed. And she never gave up.

Now after years of faithfully fighting for the people she loved, Elaine has arrived safely at the address she had been preparing for all along.

Her family is excited for her. They know she is where there is no pain, no sorrow, no tears. They also know that Heaven has gained quite a resident.

For now, Elaine has temporarily said goodbye to her grandchildren William Parsons (Lyn), Noah Parsons, Sara Chopin (Kyren), Abby (Dawson Langley), Hunter Tibbs, and Parker Tibbs, as well as her great-grandchildren Kamron Stone, Braelyn Parsons, and Kennedy Chopin.

She was also a beloved sister to Carolyn West ( King) and Billy King, and she leaves behind them, along with many nieces and nephews, who will carry their own special memories of Elaine and the mark she left on their lives.

Her family knows that they will be together with her again and until then, they are grateful and humbled that God allowed them to share this earthly address with her.

Elaine’s earthly residence is now vacant.

A memorial service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nicaragua Christian Fund at nicaraguachristian.org/donate or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
