Brother Jerry G. Grimsley
August 3, 1941 — May 29, 2023
Brother Jerry Grimsley, 81, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born Thursday, August 3, 1941, in Scotts Hill, TN, the son of the late Edgar J. and Irona Clenney Grimsley.
Brother Grimsley first pastored at Blue Goose United Pentecostal Church when he was 18 years old, served in Oak Ridge for 5 years during the 60’s and then founded Martin United Pentecostal Church in the late 70’s and served as Interim Pastor in several pulpits throughout his decades of ministry.
He was employed for 30 years at Goodyear Tire Plant in Union City, TN, and served for many years in the capacity as the worker’s union representative for the factory.
He is survived by his wife Pat Lomax Grimsley of 63 years, nephew Greg Grimsley (Rene) of Burns, TN, sister-in-law Cynthia Grimsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa Grimsley (2006) and brother, Rev. Travis Grimsley (2022).
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00PM at New Life Church with Bro. Glen Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at the church and also on Friday from 11:00AM until service time at 1:00PM.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Dale Rollins, David Spencer, Greg Grimsley, Mason Grimsley, Miles Grimsley and Eric Doke.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to New Life of Jackson, 367 Lawrence Switch Rd, Jackson, TN 38305 or charity of donor’s choice.
