James Carothers

Funeral services for James Carothers, 79, will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Roger Abington officiating. A private burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Medina, TN. Mr. Carothers died Monday evening August 23, 2010 at Jackson ? Madison County General Hospital. He was born March 30, 1931 in Humboldt, TN the son of the late Roy Carothers and Verna DeBerry Carothers. He served in the Army during the Korean War; he retired after 24 years from Jackson Fire Department, 14 years with Milan Express and 3 years with Dixieland Express. James organized the Retired Fire Fighters Association; he was a charter member of the West TN Traffic Club and a lifetime member of VFW 1848. James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pansy Barnett Carothers of Jackson, TN, three sons Chris Carothers and wife Pam of Jackson, TN, Chuck Carothers of Jackson, TN, Johnny Barber, Jr. of Jackson, TN, one daughter Celia Jordan and husband Dr. Frank Jordan, eight grandchildren Rachel Jordan, Shelby Jordan, Patton Carothers, Lilly Carothers, Tyler Carothers, Colin Carothers, Marlena Barber, Heather Barber and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by baby Carol Ann Carothers. Those serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Ikerd, Jackie Young, Joe Turnbow, Ray Scott and Cotton Maxwell.
