Evelyn Fitzgerald Hayes Barnett

Evelyn Hayes Barnett, age 95, entered her heavenly home on Friday, December 9, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving and caring family.
She was born in Theta, TN, located in Maury County, to John Robert and Birdie McKee Fitzgerald. She was employed with Bell South for many years, beginning her career as an operator and retiring as a customer service representative. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, traveling and all sports, especially those of the University of Tennessee. A few of her favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and more recently the Memphis Grizzles. In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing and being on the river. She was a long-time member of Madison Baptist Church in the Madison Hall community.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, A. B. “Buck” Barnett of Jackson, TN; son, Jerry Hayes and his wife Grace of Jackson, TN; daughter, Joy Jackson of Jackson, TN; three grandchildren, Adam Hayes, Grant Jackson and Alex Hayes, and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Hayes. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bryan Barnett and his wife Diane, and a sister-in-law, Tish Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Danny Jackson and siblings, Bobbye Johnson, Lloyd Dean Fitzgerald, and Lois Hardison.
SERVICE: The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Gerald Smith and Rev. Greg Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be John Bourgeois, Grant Jackson, Adam Hayes, Alex Hayes, Milton Hardison, and Anthony Hardison.
