Dr. Scott Owens

Dr. Scott E. Owens peacefully entered his heavenly home on Friday, February 24, 2023, at his residence with his loving wife and children by his side at the age of 64.
He was born in Tiptonville, TN on October 19, 1958, the son of Nelda Smith Owens and the late Billy Owens. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman University and later received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. Scott enjoyed interacting with family and friends, as well as his patients and their families at the Jackson Clinic, where he served as a pediatrician for over thirty years.
As a long-time member of Skyline Church of Christ, he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher for many years. He has participated in numerous mission trips to areas such as Panama, the Dominican Republic, Africa, Haiti, and Australia. He was a former member of the board of Jackson Christian serving several years as President, as well as serving as a member of the Agape Board of Memphis, TN.
Scott had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh that was one of a kind. He also was an avid sports guy who enjoyed the Memphis Tigers, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, and the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife, Terrie Floyd Owens of Jackson, TN; his daughters, Kristen Owens McAfee and husband Josh of Jackson, TN and Laura Beth Owens of Jackson, TN; his son, Taylor Owens and wife Hannah of Maumelle, AR; his mother, Nelda Smith Owens of Jackson, TN; his brother, Brad Owens and wife Ramona of Blue Goose, TN and a sister, Kay Stroud and husband Steve of Alamo, TN and four grandchildren that were the light of his life, Addie Owens, Jude, Evelyn and Emma McAfee all of Jackson. He is also survived by his fur baby Huey a German Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life for Scott will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, at Skyline Church of Christ.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Skyline Church of Christ from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Skyline Church of Christ in memory of Dr. Scott Owens to be used in the Christian education for his grandchildren, 1024 Skyline Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.
