Gary Andrew Luna

Gary Andrew Luna, age 77, departed this life peacefully, with his family by his side, on October 25, 2026, at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. 

He was born in West Plaines, MO, to the late Edward and Ruth (Benson) Luna. He was the older brother to his sister Lillian "Didi". Gary grew up loving golf, played on the high school team, and became an avid player well into his adult life. Gary attended All Saints Episcopal Church in West Plaines, where he served as an Accolate for several years.

Gary served in the US Army and completed a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He was always proud of his time serving his country and stayed connected with many other veterans throughout his life.

After returning from Vietnam, Gary worked with his father in the family electric wholesale business then joined the Wynlectric Electric Company for several years. He landed in Midland, Texas as a regional leader for Winlectric and lived there for over 30 years. He invested in a large ranch where he loved to spend his time with horses and other animals, including his beloved long horn bull named “Gilley”. He ran the ranch as a horse boarding facility and named it Luna Rosa Stables. While in Texas, Gary was active with the West Texas Cowboy Church in Gardendale, TX.

Gary shared his last few years with the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee, near his daughter. He enjoyed being with the other Veterans and loved the staff who cared for him deeply. 

He is survived by his daughter, Deann Thelen (Randy); two grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Juels (Katie) and Nic Montchal (Deaja); three great grandchildren, Lyla (7), Leo (4) and Xander (11 months); and his sister, Lillian "Didi" Brittain (Ron).
