Cora Ann Fincher, age 91, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away in Jackson on October 26, 2026. She was born in Jackson on February 3, 1935, and remained rooted in the place she called home throughout her life.
Cora will be remembered as a loving and caring woman whose greatest joy was the family she cherished above all else. She loved her two boys deeply, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and that devotion shaped the way she lived each day.
For more than thirty years, Cora worked as a clerk at General Sessions for Joe Gaffney. Her long years of service reflected a steady commitment and quiet faithfulness that marked her life. She also attended East Union Baptist Church, where her faith was part of the foundation she carried with her. As a child, she grew up in Hayes Avenue Methodist Church, which she was always proud of.
She graduated from Jackson High School in 1954. Beyond her work and daily responsibilities, Cora embraced the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved to travel, especially to the beach, where she found delight and rest. She enjoyed spending hours working word puzzles, a pastime she truly savored. In fact, her son Mike had just bought her some new ones last week. She also loved football, and Alabama was always her team—Roll Tide. Among her favorite outings were trips to flea markets, a pastime that brought her much enjoyment over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike Fincher (Madelyn Ross) and Darryl Fincher (Sandy); grandchildren, Ryan Edward Fincher, LeeAnn Elizabeth Fincher, and Jessica Leigh Fincher; great-grandchild, George Edward Fincher; step-granddaughter, Heather Key (Jonathan); step-great-grandchildren, Livianne Key, John Wilson Key, and Adaline Key; brother, Fred Stewart of Cape Coral, FL; and sister-in-law, Wilma Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Fincher; parents, Forrest and Sadie Stewart; and siblings, Forrest Stewart, Jr., Robert Stewart, Paul Stewart, and Mary Young.
A funeral service will be held to honor Cora's life at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will follow the service at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Cora’s life was one of warmth, devotion, and enduring love. She will be remembered for the care she gave so freely, for the joy she found in time with those she loved, and for the many everyday moments that made her presence so dear.
