Elise Fern Nelson

Elise Nelson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and woman of strong Christian faith, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Elise lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a genuine joy for those around her. Her vibrant spirit and caring heart touched countless lives throughout her years.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Elise eventually made her home in Jackson, Tennessee, where she built a beautiful life with her family. She was the beloved wife of Michael Nelson, and they were blessed to create a family with countless memories.

Elise was a loving mother to her daughter, Erica Davidson, and her son, Andrew Nelson. She took great pride in her children and treasured the families they created. Erica’s husband, Bradley, and their children, Hunter and Aubrey, brought Elise immense joy. Being a grandmother was one of the greatest blessings of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.

For more than 20 years, Elise dedicated her life to teaching elementary school children, particularly second grade. Teaching was more than a career for Elise—it was a calling. She had a special gift for encouraging children, helping them learn and grow, and making each student feel valued. No matter where she went, a former student would come up, hug her neck, and tell her thank you. The many lives she influenced through her years in the classroom are part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Elise was a woman of deep and unwavering Christian faith. Her faith guided the way she lived, loved, and cared for others. She always offered encouragement, compassion, and a helping hand. Elise leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and service that will continue through her family, the students she taught, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her faith was strong and that her love will remain in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Nelson; her daughter, Erica Davidson, and her husband, Bradley; her son, Andrew Nelson; and her beloved grandchildren, Hunter and Aubrey.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Elise's life at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.  The memorial visitation will be prior from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
