Shirley Ann Davis of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on October 16, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 4, 1940, in Martin, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Nona Mitchell.
Shirley will be remembered as a woman of warmth, grace, and unmistakable style. She was always dressed to impress, always presentable, and carried herself with a special sense of fashion that reflected her love for beauty, trends, and designer touches. She had a gift for making things beautiful, whether in the way she cared for herself or in the way she created a welcoming home. She loved Country Living magazine and found inspiration in the little details that made life feel more special.
She also found joy in the changing seasons and especially loved the holidays. Her home was decorated just right, the food was always cooking, and the comforting smell of holiday meals often greeted family before they even stepped through the front door. Those gatherings meant so much to her, because Shirley’s greatest pride and deepest love were always centered on her family. Hosting them, caring for them, and simply being present through all of life’s moments were among the ways she showed her unconditional love.
Shirley worked for many years at a frame shop and also spent many years working at a bookstore. She loved reading and always wanted a book close at hand. Her love of stories and beauty seemed to shape so much of who she was. Her grandchildren especially cherished their memories of spending time at the frame shop where she worked. They remember countless days there, as well as time spent with her out in the flower beds and sitting around her table, talking together over a bowl of ice cream. Those simple, loving moments became lasting treasures.
Above all else, Shirley will be remembered for the way she loved her family. Through everything they went through, she was always right there for them—steady, caring, and full of devotion. Her life was marked by the comfort she created, the beauty she brought to everyday living, and the love she poured so freely into the people closest to her.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Randy Allen and Teresa Barnes (Doug); grandchildren, Randy Allen, II (Trish), Kesha Harris (Trent), Jon Paul Allen, and Corey Barnes (Christi); and five great-grandchildren.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Roy Davis;
A graveside service for Shirley Ann Davis will be held 1:00 p.m. on October 19, 2026, at Browns Church Cemetery, 181 McLeary Rd, Jackson, Tennessee 38305.
She leaves behind a memory of elegance, warmth, and a home filled with love. May those who knew her hold close the many beautiful moments she gave so generously.
