Harold L. Freeman, age 88, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born on September 9, 1934, in Crockett County, TN, the son of the late Edgar and Lulu Privett Freeman. Music played a large part in Harold’s life, and he was known for playing his guitar and singing. Beginning at a young age, he a member of many bands and singing groups over the years. He and his group of musicians played at area retirement homes, the Old Country Store, and many churches. Gardening was an activity he enjoyed at home.
Harold’s work career began as a route driver for the local Dr. Pepper plant, then he transitioned to the Jackson Fire Department, where he was employed for thirty years, retiring as Captain. He was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Doris Criss Freeman of Jackson, TN; two sons, Johnny Freeman and his wife Stephanie, and David Freeman and his wife Darlene, both of Jackson, TN; siblings, Larry Freeman of Jackson, TN, Doyle Freeman of Hendersonville, TN, and Sarah Ross of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren, Drew Freeman, Tyler Freeman, Kelly Freeman, and Christie Fonville, and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Fonville, and Zoe, Emma, and Elsie Freeman.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Bill Freeman, and Tommy Freeman.
SERVICE: The funeral service for Harold will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Ron Hale officiating. A private burial will take place at Oakview Memorial Cemetery near Alamo, TN.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 12:00 p.m.
