William Dickerson "Dicky" Cummings, Sr.

May 25, 1951 — February 1, 2026

William Dickerson "Dicky" Cummings, Sr., age 74 of Jackson, TN died peacefully at his residence on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by his wife, Shelia, son Tom, granddaughter, Brooke and three precious great granddaughters.

He was born on May 25, 1951, the son of the late Hal and Frances Cummings in Jackson. William was a devoted husband Father, brother and grandfather and great grandfather. He was always ready to crack a joke but could be serious in a heartbeat. He was full of love and always compassionate about making sure his family was always taken care of.

William spent over fifty years working as an entrepreneur as an avid coin collector and dealer. His knowledge was unbelievable when it came to numismatics history. Aside from work, William was always at a sale barn ready to trade the next head of cattle if you could not find him doing either of these things he would be spending time with his family. Making everyone laugh or coming up with some sort of funny joke. He was always making sure his family was taken care of in every aspect. His love for his family never went unseen or unfelt.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William "Wil" Dickerson Cummings, Jr. and a grandson, William "Trey" Dickerson Cummings, III.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Shelia Cummings; his son, Thomas Cummings; his granddaughter, Brooke Thweatt and husband Nicholas; his great granddaughters Briley, Kohnley and Finley Thweatt; his sisters, Laura Cotner and Susie Lonon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a daughter in law, Connie Miller.

SERVICES: A time with family and friends to celebrate William's life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with David Tims officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at alztennessee.org in William's memory.

William's work ethic, love, and compassion will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
