Jackson, TN

Waymon E. Wimberly, a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Northbrooke Healthcare and Rehab of Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 97. Born on December 16, 1928, in Camden, Tennessee, the son of the late Arlie and Zula Jones Wimberly. Waymon lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and a deep love for those around him.

Throughout his many years, Waymon found his greatest joy in the skies, where he served as a long-time Flight Instructor. His commitment to helping countless individuals learn to fly was a testament to his patient nature and generous spirit. Flying was not only his profession but his favorite pastime. Beyond his love for aviation, Waymon embraced the simple pleasures of life; he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking, activities that brought him peace and satisfaction.

Waymon was known for his warm and loving personality. He truly loved people and carried that affection into every aspect of his life. His devotion extended beyond his family and friends into his spiritual beliefs, as he was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness, faithfully living according to his convictions.

He is survived by his children; Mike Wimberly and his fiancé Donna, Eldon Wimberly and his wife Bonnie, Gary Wimberly and his wife Lisa, and Patsy Wimberly Parker. His legacy also lives on through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each carrying a part of his spirit and values forward.

Waymon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha Wimberly, and a daughter, Debbie Scruggs, both of whom remain fondly remembered by all who knew them.

As we reflect on the life of Waymon E. Wimberly, we honor a man who dedicated himself to his family, his faith, and his passions. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him, and his contributions to the lives he touched—whether through the gift of flight, his hobbies, or his unconditional love—will not be forgotten.
