Obituary

Funeral services for Virgil Leon Rushing, 73, will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Rushing died November 15, 2012 in New Orleans, LA. He was born December 8, 1938 in Madison Co. the son of the late Virgil Eugene Rushing and Catherine Blackwell Rushing. Leon retired from Turner Dairy after many years, he was a member of Madison Baptist Church, and he served in the National Guard. He also loved drag racing and was a 23 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Leon loved his family, children and grandchildren and is survived by his wife of 50 years Faye Rushing; a son, Greg Rushing (Susie); a daughter, Alison Rushing Griffin; four brothers, Jerry, Robert, Henry and Junior; two sisters, Shirley and Brenda; five grandchildren, Randy, Brent, Lauren, Emily and Abby. He was preceded in death by brothers, George and Jimmy; a sister, Bernice and a granddaughter, Anna-Marie Boone. Pallbearers to serve are Randall Butler, Neal Wright, Scott Sweat, Jack Collins, Skip Stone and Dennis McLemore. The family requests his friends in A.A. sit together as a group. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family would also like to thank Superior Caskets. Arrington Funeral Directors 148 W.
