Tommy Maylon Thompson, 77, of Jackson, TN passed away on April 11, 2025. He was born on October 6, 1947, in San Antonio, TX.
Tommy proudly served in the United States Army, retiring as a Warrant Officer 2. A devoted veteran, he brought strength, dedication, and quiet leadership to his miliary career. After retiring, he found joy and peace in the game of golf, a pastime he cherished throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Maylon Thompson and mother, Louise Thompson.
He is survived by his sister, Jackie Williams; his daughter, Stephanie Espitia (Chris) and his sons, Paul Thompson and Phillip Thompson (Adrienne). Tommy was also a grandfather to five grandchildren and a great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.
Tommy’s family remembers him as a strong and loving man who served his country with honor. In acknowledging his passing, they wish to encourage open conversations about mental health and suicide prevention, especially among veterans who carry unseen burdens.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at West TN State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tommy’s memory to a veteran suicide prevention program, such as Stop Soldier Suicide at www.stopsolidersuicide.org or a similar organization dedicated to supporting those who have served.
His life and service will not be forgotten.
