Tommy Ray
Jones
July 1, 1961 – February 12, 2026
Tommy Ray Jones, a steadfast and compassionate soul, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Jackson, TN, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering service and a life marked by spiritual depth and genuine kindness. Born on July 1, 1961, in Bolivar, TN, Tommy was a man whose life was a testament to the power of faith and the importance of community.
After graduating from Southside High School, Tommy's dedication to serving others defined much of his life. For over twenty years, he volunteered tirelessly, seven days a week, in the RIFA Soup Kitchen, alongside Dan Ward, Jennifer Ortiz, Harry Huddleston and Barry Bryant. When his health no longer permitted him to volunteer, the care and attention he received from the staff of DaVita South Jackson Dialysis Center and Northbrooke Healthcare and Rehab was much appreciated by those who loved him.
Tommy's passion for life was paralleled by his love for Westerns, with "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza" ranking among his favorites. His extensive collection of Western DVDs was a source of joy and comfort, a hobby that he cherished and loved to share with friends and family alike. His good friends and confidants, Dan Ward and Glen Vanderford, could often recount the many hours they spent discussing the adventures of the Old West, a topic that never failed to bring a twinkle to Tommy's eye and an infectious smile to his face.
Tommy's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. His journey through life's trials and tribulations was guided by his belief in Jesus Christ. He drew strength from his favorite verse, John 16:33, and attended the Church Without Walls. His faith was not just a personal sanctuary but a source of inspiration to all who knew him, encouraging them to find hope and solace in their own lives.
Tommy's memory is cherished by the many individuals whose lives he touched, including the patrons, volunteers and staff at RIFA, the patients and staff of the DaVita South Jackson Dialysis Center, and the community at Northbrooke Healthcare and Rehab. While his service was meaningful, it was his ability to serve with a genuine, unwavering smile that made Tommy truly special. His kindness, warmth, and generous spirit will continue to be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
SERVICE: A graveside service to honor Tommy's life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery with Shaun Powers officiating.
Memorial contributions can be directed to RIFA, PO Box 2301 Jackson, TN 38302 or rifajackson.org.
