Jackson, Tennessee

Timothy Alan Merwin was born January 20, 1949, in Bemis, Tennessee. He was the son of Ralph and Helen Merwin. He died peacefully on August 1, 2026, after a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer.

Tim’s life was blessed by his loving wife, Dale Thomason Merwin, of 55 years. Blake Alan Merwin, Adam Paul Merwin, Clayton Alan Shackelford and his wife, Makayla, Jackson Harris Shackelford and Andrew Thomason Shackelford.

Tim’s life was full and rewarding. After graduating from Union University in 1971 he worked for over 50 years in industrial supply sales. Many of his customers became friends. For 45 years he officiated with TSSAA basketball and volleyball. He donated twenty-eight gallons of blood. Tim was a huge train enthusiast. He loved anything and everything about trains.

Tim was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He loved serving in the Hartland Place apartment ministry and being a part of the Walter Taylor Sunday School Class. For many years he served as a deacon and greeter.

Recently Tim and Jennifer served together in Honduras at El Ayudante. He always loved helping others.

Tim loved sports, especially Tennessee football and basketball and watching his grandsons play baseball, soccer, football, and basketball.

Tim is survived by his sister, Christie Merwin Cross and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. His brother-in-law, Ricky Cross, preceded him in death.
