Sophia Jane Isabella
Brown
July 25, 2002 – April 14, 2026
Sophia Jane Isabella Brown, 23, was born on July 25, 2002, in Springfield, Missouri, and passed away on April 14, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. She will be remembered with deep affection for her inquisitive mind, adventurous spirit, and deep love she shared with those closest to her.
With a degree in Automotive Repair from Tennessee College of Applied Technology and a management position at Tractor Supply, Sophia was someone who enjoyed the intricate details of how things in our world worked. From a young age she would lose herself in magazines and books that detailed how things such as cars, computers, farming equipment, and more worked, her fingers gripping the pages as her eyes flew across the words. Her mind was insatiably curious, and she rarely disappointed its quest for the information it craved. If her mind was ever disappointed, it was only when she noticed the sun was starting to rise in the early morning; when she had promised her mother that this time she would only read until midnight. But her mom wouldn't chastise her, understanding intimately that knowing more about the world is never a wasted endeavor.
Sophia's quest for knowledge was rivaled only by her quest for adventure. One of the ways she sought adventure was riding her motorcycle to new and exciting places. She rode daily, only stopping to come home to feverishly show her family the photos and videos of views she saw and people she met. The friends she made in this community of bikers were a huge part of her life, encouraging her to seek new experiences and accompanying her on many adventures. Her friends will remember her with fondness; cherishing her bright smile and electric soul.
Sophia was a self proclaimed "Big fan of human rights.", stemming from the knowledge that all humans are made in the image of our Creator, and therefore deserving of dignity, kindness, and respect. Animals were an enormous part of her passion; from the smallest beetle in the garden to the blue whales in the ocean. She loved them all, never wanting even a spider to be killed if it could instead be safely moved outside. She would tell her family: "It's their home too". Her Golden Retriever, Ruby, was her truest of pals, and Sophia always said Ruby helped her understand why dogs are referred to as "Man's Best Friend', for Ruby was surely hers. Now Ruby will protect Sophia's family until her loyal companion can join her in Heaven.
Her passion also extended to the living earth, understanding that humans needed to protect the home we were divinely given. She emphasized the importance of admiring plants, from the weeds in a garden to the redwood trees standing tall enough to touch the sky. She was a lover of State Parks, believing in the importance of seeing the earth as humans are meant to; green hills, lush trees, clean air and blue skies.
Sophia also enjoyed the arts, with a big part of her life being spent focusing on music and musical theatre. She enjoyed seeing musicals at the Orpheum with her family, with SIX the musical being her favorite to see and listen to. She was rarely seen without an earbud in her ear, listening to a wide range of music. From ABBA to Sleep Token to Taylor Swift to the Hamilton Soundtrack, she was uninterested in fitting into a box of musical genres. She would go where the music took her, not caring about if the music was considered "cool" or "uncool".
She lived her life the same way; knowing that what people say or think about you is only a small part of what matters in life. More than anyone, Sophia understood the importance of being truly, completely and unapologetically herself. Her likes and dislikes revealed a truly multi-dimensional human being; someone who could move easily between grease stained hands, open skies, the balcony of a theatre, hiking in the woods, and curled up with her dog on the couch.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Jodi Brown; sisters, Olivia Rose (Jonathan) and Emma Brown; maternal grandparents, James and Rhonda Edwards; niece, Montana Rose; nephew, Hartlin Rose; and numerous aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Emma and Keith (Virgil) Burnett.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, at Chickasaw State Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
Though her time here was far too brief, she made a lasting impression through her passions, her adventurous spirit, and her unmistakable presence. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be missed beyond measure.
