Sherra Linda Daily Armstrong

October 30, 1950 — October 17, 2025

Jackson

Sherra Linda Daily Armstrong passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, just shy of her 75th birthday. She was born on October 30, 1950, in Oneonta, Alabama.

Sherra dedicated her life to serving others, first as a social worker in Alabama and Louisiana, followed by missionary service in several countries across Latin America. She was under missionary appointment by the Foreign Mission Board/International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for thirty-eight years, including twenty-three years in active service and fifteen years on disability status. Regardless of position or status, she lived a life of service with a true spirit of kindness, compassion, joy, and love for her Lord.

Throughout her life, Sherra was known for her sensitivity and creativity, qualities that drew people to her and left a lasting impact on all who knew her. A talented pianist and artist, she found beauty in every canvas and melody. She began playing the piano by ear at age five and became the pianist of the small Methodist church where she was raised at age nine. She loved all kinds of music, from pop to rock to Southern Gospel and old hymns. She was an avid reader across several genres and enjoyed writing, from sports editor of her high school yearbook to dozens of spiritual journals across her lifetime, to a recent collection of stories of her life experiences. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework crafts. In her younger years, Sherra was an active participant in baseball, basketball, and football, and was a lifetime Alabama Roll Tide fan. Beginning in her childhood, she was always an avid student and gifted teacher of the Bible.

Her proudest accomplishment, however, was the love she shared with her family. Sherra cherished her role as a devoted family member, especially as wife, mother, and grandmother, and it was this love that defined her life and enriched the lives of those around her. She made everyone feel special, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, William Hayward Armstrong; children, William Taylor Armstrong (Patricia) and Rachel Armstrong Wright (Eric); and grandchildren, Callie Wright Scott (Charles), Abby Wright, Claire Armstrong, Richie Vane, and Jimmy Vane. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Leon Daily and Coy Jean Thompson Daily; siblings, Norris Leon Daily, Daniel Brent Daily, and Anita Kay Daily Horn; and brother-in-law, Jeff Horn.

A service to celebrate Sherra's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Andy Neely and Rev. Lonnie Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will follow.

Pallbearers will be Howard Inge, Cary Hanks, Kelvin Moore, Hal Poe, Larry Morris, and Russell Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Gist, Randy Allison, and Bob Herring.

As we remember Sherra, we celebrate not only her contributions as a missionary and artist but also the genuine kindness that radiated from her heart. Her legacy will endure in the memories of the countless lives she touched with her creativity and warmth. Though she has left this world, her spirit and the love she gave so freely will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Sherra. You will be missed profoundly.
