Selah Grace Cali, a sweet, brave, and intelligent 4-year-old little girl, passed away peacefully from this life to the next on Tuesday evening, November 21, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jackson, TN on September 26, 2019.
This beautiful, blue-eyed and brown-haired, charming, and sassy girl brought immense joy to everyone who knew her. Her vibrant personality and contagious smile could light up even the darkest of rooms. Despite her young age, Selah had wisdom beyond her years and a spirit that touched the hearts of all who crossed her path.
Selah loved life. One of her greatest joys in life was unicorns. She reveled in anything related to these mythical creatures – from toys to books and everything in between. Princess dresses, bracelets and necklaces were also an essential part of Selah's world; she felt like royalty whenever she wore them. They added a touch of sparkle to her infectious smile as she charmed everyone she encountered. Amongst all the things she adored, the movie Frozen held a special place in her heart. Each day for the past year, Selah would watch this beloved film, immersing herself in its enchanting tale.
Selah found delight in the world of animated wonders. Bluey and Cocomelon captivated her imagination as she laughed along with the characters and eagerly absorbed every lesson they taught. Her joyful voice could often be heard singing along to beloved melodies such as "Amazing Grace," "Twinkle Twinkle," "Jesus Loves Me," and even the empowering anthem "Let It Go.” She also delighted in songs about her imaginary farm and "See You Later, Alligator" with the utmost glee. She expressed her joy through her favorite treats - apple sauce, apple juice, cheddar fish, and Cheetos. She would also carefully fill her "back-a-packas" with bells, balls, squishies, and stuffies - treasures that accompanied her on fantastical adventures through fields of flowers.
Nothing brought Selah greater contentment than being outside. Whether skies, seas, stars, or trees - these were her playground. She deeply held a love for animals and affectionately called them "aminals.” Doggies, froggies, turtles, and Squirtles all dwelled in her kind heart.
Painting, playing, singing, and reading were Selah’s passions. Whether it was engaging with toys or belting out her favorite tunes, she radiated enthusiasm and energy. Her captivating giggles had a way of filling hearts with warmth and reminding all of us to appreciate life's simplest pleasures. She lived to laugh, learn, and be free.
Sadly, Selah's journey on this earth was brief as she battled courageously against cancer. Despite the challenges she faced, her strength and resilience never wavered. Selah showed us all what it meant to fight with grace and unwavering determination.
She will be deeply missed by both of her parents Ellen Bone Cali and Robert (Bob) Cali. The bond between Selah and her parents transcended words; it is an unbreakable connection brimming with unconditional love and support.
Other than her parents, she leaves behind her older brother Isaiah, who shared treasured moments with his little sister. Their laughter echoed through their home as they embarked on imaginative adventures together. Isaiah will forever cherish these memories. Coco, her beloved dog, will miss her greatly.
The loss of Selah is also mourned by her grandparents Charles and Ann Bone of Jackson, TN and Tony and Debbie Cali of Murfreesboro, TN. Known affectionately as Papa and Nana, and PawPaw and Gigi respectively, they were pillars of strength and unwavering love for Selah throughout her life. Her aunts, Ruth Ann (Matthew) Bentley of Boulder, CO, and Abigail (Adren) Pearce of Jackson, TN, also grieve the passing of their beloved niece. Uncle Ryne (Katrina) Cali of Jackson, TN holds dear memories of his niece, and together with cousins Josiah, Ginny, and Lydia Cali, they mourn the loss of a beautiful life whose impact will be felt for an eternity.
As we bid farewell to our precious Selah Grace Cali with heavy hearts, we find solace in knowing that she is healed and safe in the arms of Jesus. May her legacy inspire us to live each day with the same grace and courage that she exemplified during her short but remarkable life.
