Sarah E. Matlock, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at her residence in Maplewood Healthcare, Jackson, TN. Born on October 29, 1933, in Luray, TN, Sarah lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a profound love for her family.
Throughout her career, Sarah served as a hostess with Days Inn and also contributed her skills at a sewing factory, where her strong work ethic was exemplified. Known for her caring nature, Sarah prioritized her family before herself, embodying the values of compassion and dedication.
Sarah was not only a devoted worker but also a passionate student of the Bible, finding solace and wisdom in its teachings. Her interests extended beyond her family and faith; she took joy in working outdoors, particularly tending to her beloved flower garden, where she nurtured both plants and those around her with equal care.
An accomplished individual, Sarah was proud to be a thirty-year cancer survivor, a testament to her resilience and strength. She is cherished and remembered by her family, including her daughters Mary Lou Hale (Mike) and Stephanie Bailey; her brothers Floyd Jones (April) and Lloyd Jones (Lynette); her sister Wilma Sue Bibee; her grandchildren Maegen, Thomas, and Dustin; as well as her great-grandchildren Kymbree, Harlem, Luke, Remi, and Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Taylor, Allie Mae Walters Jones, and grandson Nathan Patrick Hale.
SERVICES: A graveside service to honor Sarah’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Beech Bluff Cemetery, at 11:30 AM
Sarah E. Matlock will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, commitment, and resilience will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
