Samuel "Sammy" Everett Graves, 81, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 20, 2026.
He was born June 22, 1944, in Medina, Tennessee, to the late Lonnie Everett Graves and Laura Mai Graves. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Boswell.
Mr. Graves is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Ross Graves; his brother, Mickey Graves; and his three daughters, Jennifer Kirkpatrick (Joseph), Holly Preservati (Richard), and Heather Delaney (David). He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren with number 6 on the way, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
A graduate of Medina High School, Class of 1962, he continued his education at West Tennessee Business School, where he focused on accounting. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1971.
Mr. Graves began his career in procurement with H.O. Forgy & Son / TBI Steel, where he worked from 1963 until 1989. He later fulfilled his entrepreneurial vision by founding Graves Metal Products, which he owned and operated from 1990 until 2023. Through his business, he became a strong supporter of his community.
He was actively involved in many civic and community organizations. He was a member of the Jackson Jaycees and was honored as Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1979. He also served as president, secretary, and treasurer of the Jackson Babe Ruth League, contributed as a member of the Miss Tennessee Pageant Executive Board of Directors, and served on the board of directors for the Jackson Chamber of ALSAC. In addition, he coached youth basketball for the YMCA Youth Basketball Association.
A man of faith, he was a member of Northside Church and a former member of Forest Heights United Methodist Church.
He and his wife shared a love of travel, and he had a lifelong passion for baseball and The University of Tennessee sports. Above all, he will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work ethic, and his commitment to his community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Northside Church in Jackson, Tennessee, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed by the Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Arrington Funeral Directors.
Honorary Pallbearers: Joseph Kirkpatrick, Richard Preservati, David Delaney, Joseph Preservati, Samuel Delaney, Alexander Kirkpatrick, Jacob Kiripatrick, & Mickey Graves.
