Roy E. Gobbell

May 6, 1943 — August 7, 2026

Jackson, Tennessee

Roy E. Gobbell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence in Jackson, Tennessee, on August 8, 2026. He was 83 years old and left this world as he lived—surrounded by the love of his devoted family.

Roy was born on May 6, 1943, in Wayne County, Tennessee, to Alonzo Roy Gobbell and Robbie Pollock Gobbell. From his earliest days, Roy was shaped by the close bonds of his family and the values instilled by his parents. Throughout his life, these values of integrity, kindness, and dedication guided every path he walked.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his life Roy held a number of various careers that included an Airplane engine mechanic, salesman, farmer and truck driver for Dandridge Equipment, Keller Lumber Company, William Steel and most recently KGT Trucking Company.

He is survived by those who held his heart closest: his beloved wife, Linda A. Gobbell, who stood faithfully by his side through seasons of joy and challenge alike. Together, they built a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity that will stand for generations. Roy took immense pride in his children: Kimber D. Gobbell, and his wife Melanie; Danita Payne; and Tosha D. Ward and her husband Mike. His children, and their families, were his greatest source of joy and continued inspiration.

Roy leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Shelby Robinson and her husband Dustin, Parker Ward and his fiancé Vikki Van Someren, Jackson Gobbell and his fiancé Katie Dunn, who each brought light and laughter into his days. His family was blessed yet again with the arrival of a great-grandchild, Marlee Grace Robinson, whose presence filled his final years with renewed wonder. Their stories, accomplishments, and dreams brought Roy endless pride.

Family members preceding him in death: his father and mother, Alonzo Roy and Robbie Pollock Gobbell; his brother, Ronald Gobbell, and sister-in-law, Carol Gobbell; his sister, Emma Katherine Nutt, brother-in-law, Robert Nutt and niece, Sandra Cleghorn. The memory of their shared times remains an enduring comfort for all who loved Roy.

Roy E. Gobbell’s journey was marked by lifelong devotion to his family, quiet acts of generosity, and an unwavering spirit. Though details beyond his family ties and places of his birth and passing are not recorded here, those who knew Roy will remember his warm presence, his steadiness in both calm and storm, and the deep sense of community he fostered wherever he called home.
