Obituary

Ronald Lee Rogers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 88. He lived a vibrant life devoted to faith, family, and missions. Born July 3, 1937, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Benjamin Coke and Lena May Rogers, Ron grew up on the family farm and later helped in his fathers country store. After graduating from Jackson High School, he earned his B.A. from Union University in 1960. While going to Union, he began pastoring at Cotton Grove Baptist Church and met the love of his life, Doris Annette Osborne. They shared nearly 66 years of marriage. Together, Ron and Doris embraced a life of service, beginning with his Bachelor of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary in 1964. They then moved north to Chicago to plant churches, and later to Maryland, where Ron served in leadership roles with the Baltimore Baptist Association, the MD/DE Baptist Convention, and as Director of Missions for Prince Georges County Baptist Association. He earned a Doctor of Ministry from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1979. After retiring in 2002, Ron and Doris returned to Jackson, TN, reconnecting with family and exploring the country in their camper. Eventually, they moved to Boise to be near their grandsons, where Ron embraced his favorite role of "Gramps." Known for his compassionate mission work, Ron even learned sign language to support deaf ministries and after retirement, dedicated his time to organizations like the Red Cross and Salvation Army supporting disaster relief projects. A true "Mr. Fix-It," he loved restoring his Dads 52 Chevy, tackling home projects, and ensuring his yard was always pristine. Ron is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carl, James, and Billy Rogers; and his sisters, Wilma Daniels, Annie Mae Smith, and Betty Wise. He is survived by his wife Doris; his children Tim (Tammy) and Rhonda (John); and his grandsons, Jack and Ryan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, Tennessee with Rev. Ron Hale officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
