Robert Samuel Mitchell, age 97, died peacefully Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at AHC Northbrooke Healthcare of Jackson. Mr. Mitchell was born in Carroll County, TN on February 24, 1924, the son of the late Robert Daniel and Sarah Emmie Whitehorn Mitchell. After moving to the Jackson area with his family at the age of seventeen, he joined and proudly served his country in the United State Army, where he obtained the rank of sergeant. He was married to Marie James Mitchell who preceded him in death in 2011. His working career began with Bemis Mercantile and later the U S Postal Service before establishing Mitchells Body Shop, that has been in the family for three generations. Mr. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Judy Mitchell Lyell of Portland, TN and Janet Mitchell Smith of Jackson, TN; two sisters, Dorothy Carnell of Huntingdon, TN and Barbara Ellis of Clarksburg, TN; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Robert W. "Bob" Mitchell. SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 19, 2021, at Highland Memorial Gardens with James Keeton officiating.
