Robert "Bob" Devere Russell

April 24, 1946 — June 4, 2026

Jackson, TN

Robert "Bob" Devere Russell passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home. Born on April 24, 1946, in Freedom, Oklahoma, Bob lived a life defined by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy, embodying honor and strength that resonated throughout every chapter of his life. After his military service, he built a meaningful career as a press operator at Tennalum in Jackson, Tennessee. However, it was beyond his professional achievements that Bob's true legacy flourished.

One of Bob's greatest accomplishments was the life he built alongside his beloved family. Known for his strong will, keen sense of humor, and immense caring nature, he was truly larger than life. His ability to connect with others was remarkable; he never met a stranger. He left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered, whether through lending a helping hand or sharing an unforgettable story.

Bob’s personal joys included his love for fishing and the cherished log home he constructed atop a hill—a place where the view stretched endlessly and every sunrise and sunset seemed imbued with extra beauty. This home, with its inviting back porch serving as a haven for fellowship, laughter, and an incomparable cup of coffee, stood as a testament to the warmth and spirit he brought into the lives of those around him. While the breathtaking scenery was captivating, it was Bob’s presence that truly made the hilltop a perfect sanctuary.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, centering his life around the family he loved so dearly. Family was at the core of all he did, and the bonds he nurtured will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and were loved by him in return.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debi Hubble Russell; his children, Paul Russell of Memphis, TN, Betsy Jager (Jason) of Beech Bluff, TN, Brian Bell (Jessica) of Arlington, VA, and Brandon Bell (Brittany) of St. Petersburg, FL; his siblings, James B. Russell (Betty) of Reserve, NM, Thomas V. Russell (Julie) of Freedom, OK, Sherry Russell (Robert) of Minco, OK, Lida Russell (Thomas) of Minco, OK, and JoNell Rozyk of Kenai, AK; eight grandchildren, Kristen Gray (Spencer), Austin Haggard, Ty Haggard, Paisley Jager, Gus Bell, Violet Bell, Branson Bell, and Bretton Bell; and two precious great-grandchildren, Josi and Henry Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Helen Russell.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The inurnment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at West TN State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.

Robert "Bob" Devere Russell will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his steadfast spirit, generous heart, and the unforgettable mark he left on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
