Richard Dean “Richy” McDaniel, 65, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away at his home in Jackson on October 29, 2025. Born on November 2, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, Richy was the beloved son of Marilyn (Gary Deaton) and the late James (Betty) McDaniel.

A proud 1978 graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School, Richy went on to attend Memphis State University, where he met his first wife, Heidi Wohlpart. They married in December 1987 at Forest Heights Methodist Church in Jackson and were blessed with two children, Michael James McDaniel and Marguerite Rose McDaniel. Later in life, Richy found love again and married Amy (Gardner) McDaniel.

Professionally, Richy worked as Office Manager at Deaton’s Carpet One, where he was respected for his dedication and warmth. Outside of work, he was a gifted artist and musician who found joy in expressing himself creatively. He loved golf, deer hunting, coin collecting, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Cardinals. He shared his passion for the Steelers and Cardinals with his father, son, and grandson.

Richy will be lovingly remembered by his children Micheal and Maggie, his grandchildren Matthew and Penelope (Penny), siblings Marigene (Matt) Hughes, David McDaniel, and Brad McDaniel, his mother Marilyn and Gary, and many friends and relatives who cherished his kind and generous spirit.

A private family only service will be conducted.

The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Gideons International, Madison County Camp #U41052, PO Box 173, Jackson, TN 38302-0173 or to Autism Awareness online at www.autismsociety.org.
