Reed was a loving husband to Glenna for forty years. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, cooking his legendary meals for friends and family, and spending time at home with his beloved pets.

With his degree in finance, Reed’s career spanned 20+ years as he served as the Division Manager of Southland Foods, Vice President of McLane Foods, and went on to become the President of Market Fare Foods.

Beyond his professional career, Reed had great love for the people of Myanmar. After traveling to the country and seeing the people, he felt compelled to use his gifts and talents to co-found the non-profit organization Love for Myanmar. Armed with the belief that the families of Myanmar should have the opportunity to succeed in a safe, and loving environment, he and his friend, Gary Watkins, co-founded a powerful organization that continues to strive to help meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Reed personally led over 20 mission trips with volunteers to travel into the country and tangibly carry out this mission.

Along with his work in Myanmar, Reed also worked tirelessly within the Burmese community in Austin Texas. He aided in processing paperwork, furnishing apartments, and fostering a sense of belonging to those who had been displaced from their home country. Reed and Gary were also able to help in establishing a church for the Burmese Karen community in Austin.

A private family memorial is being held in his honor. The family respectfully requests that any remembrances, or donations in his name please be made to Love for Myanmar
