Prentice Raymond Turner passed away on September 14, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age of 73. He was born on July 8, 1950, in Bemis, TN the son of the late Percy Ray Turner and Shirley Collins Turner and was a lifelong resident of the area. On May 10, 1972, he married Patricia Anne Joyner, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2018. During their marriage, in addition to his employment, Raymond was a full-time caretaker for his wife, whose health had been poor since the age of three. A member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Jackson, Raymond attended faithfully until Patsys death, after which his health declined steadily. He was a long-time employee of the City of Jackson. He also owned and operated his own business, Asphalt Services; however, most people remember him from his time at Sams Club, where he distributed food samples -- always with a smile and a joke. In past years he and Patsy were members of the Jackson Jaycees. Raymond was an avid gardener, especially enjoying the nurturing of tomato and hot pepper plants. He also loved reading, fishing, collecting old coins, flashlights, tools, and other gadgets, and snacking on anything spicy hot. For special occasions, he always requested his sister-in-laws peanut butter fudge. Raymond leaves a daughter, Carly (Patrick) Rogers, who has cared for him for the last five years, as well as four beloved grandchildren: Jordan Miracle, Carrie Ann Rogers, Patrick Rogers, Jr., and Turner Rogers. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Emily Smith, and Beverly Walker. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass for Raymond will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at St. Marys Catholic Church, with Father David Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, September 21, 2023, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until 10:30 a.m. with a Rosary service to follow at 10:30 at St. Marys Catholic Church.
