Ramona Ann Garner
Mccoy
October 25, 1946 – March 20, 2026
Ramona Ann Garner McCoy was born October 25, 1946, to the late Pink "Chalk" and Nadine Rogers Garner. She passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of every gathering and a steady source of comfort to all who knew her.
Known affectionately as "MeMaw", Ramona had a gift for making everyone feel at home. Whether through her generous hospitality, her gentle words of encouragement, or the way she welcomed others with open arms, she created a space where people felt loved and valued. Her laughter was contagious, her hugs were unforgettable, and her presence irreplaceable. Using her unique communication and organizational skills, she enjoyed a blessed forty-year career with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, retiring in 2009.
Ramona devoted her life to her family. She met the love of her life, Phillip Wayne McCoy at a West Tennessee Business College dance and the two were married on February 10, 1967.
She held a deep and abiding faith in God, and this was reflected in her many years of ministry working alongside the women of her church at Gregory's Chapel, as well as in girls auxiliary groups and teaching both boys and girls throughout some fifty years of tireless service. She was brilliant at organizing events and uniting women to work for worthy causes. Her life was a testimony to God's goodness, and she was always reflecting His light and Love.
It was at this church, where she and Phillip gave their three children the greatest gift they could have ever given them, a Biblical foundation surrounded by a loving church family.
Ramona loved to travel with friends and make memories and particularly loved the Smoky Mountains. She loved Christmas and decorating her home for the holidays. She loved having people in her home for a meal or a weekend.
Loving, kind, hospitable - Always giving. Always serving. Always smiling. Always faithful. Ramona took great pride in and is survived by two sisters, Peggy Hughes (Junior) of Huron, TN and Sherry Azbill (Kenny) of Lexington, TN; children, Shelley Taylor (David) of Cloverport, TN, Timothy McCoy of Jackson, TN, and Jared McCoy (Leah) of Alamo, TN; grandchildren, Benjamin Taylor (Shannon), Dylan DeWald, Emma DeWald, and Nate McCoy; and one great-grandson, Buckley Taylor.
She found her greatest joy simply by being surrounded by them. The lessons she passed down – kindness, resilience, faith, and the importance of family – will live on through generations. She is remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was - compassionate, strong, selfless, and deeply loving. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gregory's Chapel, Humboldt, TN. The family will have a private graveside service.
