Patty Sue Weir, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, at the age of 84 in her Bemis residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Patty was born on December 29, 1939, in Bemis, TN, the daughter of the late Alfred Elmo and Erma Rodger Brinkley.
Patty's legacy extends beyond her career in retail and her exceptional skill as a seamstress. She was a nurturing matriarch who dedicated her life to caring for her family. Patty's devotion to her loved ones was evident in everything she did, from creating beautiful clothes for her children and grandchildren to tending to her flower gardens with love and dedication.Her passion for photography captured countless precious moments, preserving memories that will now serve as a testament to her creativity and love for beauty. Patty's gentle demeanor and ever-present smile were a reflection of her unwavering faith, which she shared with her husband Tillman as charter members of Lighthouse Church, where they opened their home to begin the congregation. Their influence extended beyond the church walls as they coached Bible Quiz teams, leaving a godly impact on numerous young lives from 1977 to 1980.
Patty's educational journey began with her being part of the inaugural graduating class of South Side High School, showcasing her commitment to learning and personal growth. Her kind and nurturing personality touched the lives of everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.
The memory of Patty will be cherished by her surviving family members: her loving husband of sixty-four years, Tillman E. Weir; her daughter, Paige Weir Engler, and her husband Dave; her son, Roger Weir and his wife Grace; her sister, Teresa Brinkley and brother-in-law Bill Luther; her grandchildren, Seth Weir and wife Angela and their children Shawn and Savannah Grace Weir, Simon Weir and wife Lauren and their children Skylar and Emma Weir, Sara McHenry and husband Patrick and their children Nash and Max McHenry, Logan Engler and wife Taylor, Nathan Engler and wife McKenna, and Haley Sweatman and husband Gabriel.
In addition to her immediate family, Patty was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Luther, and her late parents. Their memories will forever be intertwined with the legacy of a woman who lived a life of love and devotion to her family.
SERVICES: A Celebration of Life service to honor Patty’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Pastor Donald Lance and Pastor Ronald Brown officiating. The burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until the service time.
