Nelda S. Owens entered her heavenly home on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at her Jackson residence with her loving family by her side at the age of 85. A native of Tiptonville, TN, Nelda was born on August 30, 1937, the daughter of the late Vernon and Nellie Vance Smith. She was married to Billy Owens who preceded her in death in 2001. Her working career included serving as the church secretary at Skyline Church of Christ and in the Classified Department of The Jackson Sun before becoming a homemaker. Nelda enjoyed Tea Parties, her Skyline Church family, serving on Mission trips, fishing and going to yard sales and recovering items to use or sell. She is survived by her children, Kaye Stroud and husband Steve of Alamo, TN and Brad Owens and wife Ramona of Lexington, TN; her daughter-in-law, Terrie Owens of Jackson, TN; two brothers, Vernon Dudley Smith and wife Brenda of Ft. Pierce, FL and Jim Brewer and wife Jan of Davenport, FL; five grandchildren, Kristen McAfee and husband Josh, Laura Beth Owens, Taylor Owens and wife Hannah, Nathan Stroud and Jesse Stroud and wife Morgan and seven great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Dr. Scott Owens, a brother, Vernon Leroy Smith and wife Betty Sue. VISITATION: The family will be receiving friends on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.
