Nancy R. Williams

Nancy Ann Rushing Bell Williams, 91 of Jackson passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, at AHC Humboldt, TN.

She was born on December 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert Neal and Carrie Walker Rushing.

Nancy was a loved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Nancy is survived by her children, Larry (Cindy) Bell of Jackson, TN; Shelia (Chris) Deaton of Dade City, FL; Dennis (Robin) Bell of St. Louis, MO; Martha (Chuck) Melton, of Jackson, TN; Joey (Susan) Williams of Jackson, TN; Andy (Nancy) Williams of Memphis, TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Bob) Bell of Chuckey, TN; a sister-in-law, Pat Rushing of Jackson, TN; seventeen grandchildren, Brian Bell, Brad Bell, Krysta Pittman, J. T. Bell, Nathan Bell, Katherine Lowrey. Rachel Heath, Bret Bell, Kyle Williams, Allison Shackelford, Ginger Rodgers, Cody Williams, Gabe Williams, Drew Williams, Chris Williams, Tony Williams and Michelle Hrvoch as well as twenty-two great grandchildren.

Nancy is also survived by her fraternal twin, Albert Dan (late Bettye) Rushing of Jackson, TN; affectionately known as “Twin”.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husbands, Cooper Neil Bell in 1971 and Joseph Burton Williams in 1994.  She was also preceded by a son, Robert N. (Bob) Bell in 2021 and two sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Wilson and Annette (Pete) McNeal and three brothers, Richard (Betty) Rushing, Chester Rushing and Jimmy (Barbara) Rushing.

Nancy attended Northside High School and graduated in 1949 and was an active member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church where she found comfort and solace.

She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends while cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and her beloved St. Louis Cardinals.  She will forever be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends, to her unwavering faith in God and her passion for sports.

SERVICES:  A service celebrating the life of Nancy R. Williams will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.  Burial will follow in Rushing Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until the service time at 1:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.
