Nancy Nanney

November 5, 1933 — September 2, 2025

Jackson, TN

Nancy Nanney, a beloved woman known for her grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at her residence in Jackson, Tennessee. She was 91 years old.

Born on November 5, 1933, in Madison County, Tennessee, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late David Alvin and Helen P. Davis Williams. She was a proud graduate of North Side High School and continued her education at the former Memphis State University.

Nancy dedicated much of her professional life to the field of hematology, serving as a Hematology Lab supervisor with Coulter Diagnostics in Miami, Florida for many years. She was a trailblazer, joining the workforce in 1970 when it was uncommon for women to seek employment outside the home. Her decision to work was driven by her desire to find fulfillment rather than necessity.

She had a vibrant personality that shone through in her ever-impeccable style. Always well-dressed, Nancy had a keen eye for clothing and accessories. She enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories with her husband Travis while exploring new places together. They lived in many different cities during her long life including San Rafael, Chicago, New York City, Miami, Tampa, and Atlanta before returning to Jackson to take care of her family.

Nancy delighted in her grandchildren—Matthew Nanney, Kyle Tillman, and Katie Tillman—and consistently made sure they felt like the center of the universe. She was also deeply devoted to her husband, with whom she shared over sixty years of marriage, a testament to their true love story. Her strength and resilience became apparent throughout her life, as she faced challenges with remarkable toughness.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Lisa Tillman and her husband Kenneth; her son, David Nanney and his wife Tonya; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Nanney, Kyle Tillman and his wife Emma, and Katie Tillman; and dear friends, Becky Fly and Wilma Allen. She also had a wide circle of friends who were very important to her. Additionally, Nancy had a special caregiver, Brittany Weaver, who provided her with devoted care for many months.

A graveside service to honor Nancy's life will be on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee.

Nancy Nanney's legacy of love, strength, and commitment to her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed but her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
