After graduating from Newport High School in 1951, she attended Arkansas State University where she graduated with a Business Education degree. After Toms military duty and three years in Montgomery, AL they settled in Birmingham, AL where Tom became an executive with Golden Flake Snack Foods. Nancy was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother to her two children and poured her life into them and her church. She was very active in the childrens education and faithfully served her church where she worked in the library.
