Nadine DeWeese Hutchinson

Nadine DeWesse Hutchinson, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 14, 1932, in Swannanoa, North Carolina, to the late Ralph and Laurel Patton DeWesse. 

Nadine grew up in  Swannanoa North Carolina and graduated from Swannanoa High School. She later attended Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Morganton, North Carolina, where she earned her registered nursing degree and began a remarkable career dedicated to caring for others. She retired after 47 years working in obstetrics, where she compassionately welcomed countless babies into the world and touched the lives of many families throughout her kindness and devotion.

Nadine shared a 66-year marriage with her beloved husband, Wayne Hutchinson, until his passing. Together they built a loving family and welcomed three children - Kenneth, Larry, and Elizabeth. 

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who truly cherished her family above all else. Nadine loved cooking for those she loved, baking homemade bread, creating beautiful cross-stitch pieces, and spending hours reading a wide array of books. Affectionately called "Non," Nadine's gentle spirit and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Sheree) Hutchinson, Larry (Sally Mellon) Hutchinson, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Anderson; her grandsons, Channing (Kerstin) Anderson and William (Kristen) Hutchinson; and her four great-granddaughters, Laura Grace, Sarah Frances, Flora, and Olivia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by family members whom she loved dearly.

Nadine's life was one of service, faithfulness, and love. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
