Miles Fray Wallace, born on October 27, 1934, departed this life on June 26, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee. His long and generous presence touched the lives of many, leaving an enduring legacy characterized by dedication to his work, his country, friends and, most importantly, his cherished family.
A graduate of Beech Bluff High School, His professional path led him to excel as a sheet metal worker, in local Union #4. Fray held the distinction of becoming the longest active member in his union. A distinguished honor, he received in 2025 for 71 years of active service.
Service was at the core of Fray’s beliefs, and he demonstrated this through over thirty years of faithful service in the Tennessee National Guard. Fray’s dedication to his country was unwavering. His service to his country, State and community during his time with the National Guard is a proud chapter of his life story.
Though steadfast in his professional and military commitments, Fray was equally passionate in his pursuit of adventure and discovery. He was an enthusiastic traveler, displaying an impressive curiosity for the world. Fray visited all fifty states, with some destinations drawing him back more than once. His journeys also led him abroad on numerous occasions—so many that his family found it nearly impossible to keep track of all the places he explored.
Fray was a passionate and reliable friend to all that knew him. A special friend for the past sixteen years Earline Caviness, who knew him as Miles, shared travel experiences together. They enjoyed each other’s company each evening and were always there for each other in times of need.
Those who knew Fray also remember his deep appreciation for electronics and the latest gadgets, always eager to learn and embrace innovations. He often shared and maintained a special enthusiasm with friends and family, embodying a spirit that remained youthful and forward-looking throughout his life. Another of his enduring passions was Nascar; he delighted in watching all the races and he could talk about all the drivers in the sport.
Above all, Miles Fray Wallace was a devoted family man. In 1976, Fray was blessed to meet and marry the true love of his life, Janice Corder (deceased). They enjoyed 25 years together and built the perfect life together. We all take great comfort in knowing today they are finally reunited.
Fray’s greatest source of pride came from those he loved and supported. The bonds he formed and the guidance he provided shaped countless lives for the better, His cousin Bobby Brittain was closest to his heart. Our father and Bobby shared countless adventures most of us could only dream of. The stories they can tell. Those privileged to call him family or friend will remember him for his warmth, strength, and selflessness.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Darrell Wallace, Belinda Coleman (Teddy), Greg Wallace (Norma), and Thomas Wallace (Kim); ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Wallace; son, Michael Ray Wallace; step-children, Cheri Toney and Herbert Hunt; and parents, Elmer and Lula Brittain. He leaves behind a special granddaughter, Emily Wallace Powers, daughter of his late son, Michael, with whom he shared an extraordinary and loving relationship.
A funeral to honor Fray’s life will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Fray’s legacy is one of hard work, loyalty, curiosity, and love—a legacy that lives on in the memories and stories shared by all who had the honor of knowing
