Melissa Smith
Hall
October 31, 1961 – February 4, 2026
Melissa Smith Hall, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving family on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born Tuesday, October 31, 1961, in Memphis, TN to the late Gene and Joyce Smith.
She graduated from Collierville High School in 1980, continued her education at Lambuth University and graduated in 1983 with a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising.
In her career, she worked various jobs in retail, small business, education, and government. She retired as a deputy clerk with the Madison County Circuit Court.
Her life was filled with love and dedication to her family, friends, and community. She was a woman of faith who lived a life centered around serving others, and exemplified the true meaning of strength, joy, patience, and humility.
She was a woman who found great strength in her savior Jesus Christ above all else. Her life verse was Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." This was most evident as she walked through a thirteen-year health journey with three cancer diagnoses and most recently Parkinson's dementia.
Melissa served in many different capacities throughout her life. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and leading Children's church. She played an integral role as a volunteer at her children's school, Trinity Christian Academy, where she served as the President of the Mother's Club and helped with the Athletic Booster Club. It was not uncommon to also find Melissa feeding the youth group and Young Life leaders in her community. In the late 90s, Melissa and her husband served on the Young Life Board where they loved investing in the lives of college and high school students. In her later years, when she was not physically able to serve as she did in her early years, she continued to invest in the lives of others by encouraging women walking through cancer.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 40 years, Andy Hall; daughter, Leah Claire Hall of Jackson, TN; son, William Hall of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Olivia Hall of Jackson, TN; and her sister, Kathy Anderson (Bill) of Arlington, TN. She was also blessed with in laws, many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kirk Smith and nieces Sarah Beth Whitehead and Anna Anderson.
SERVICES : Melissa's Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Ministry Center Chapel at Fellowship Bible Church. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the service time. The burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
