December 10, 1924 — April 14, 2023

Max Russell Reams peacefully entered his heavenly home on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the West Tennessee State Veterans Home at the age of ninety-eight.
He was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on Wednesday, December 10, 1924, the son of the late Clark and Kittie Mitchell Reams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rubye Reams. He was proud to serve in the United States Army, receiving the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Max was employed for forty-three years as a sales associate with D. Canale & Company of Memphis, TN.
He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was continually active in the community as a fifty-year Master Mason, a 32-degree Scottish Rite member and Shriner. He served as a volunteer chaplain with Jackson Madison County General Hospital for eleven years. His faith came first in his life, and he shared it often. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his passion. He tried and succeeded to put a little sunshine into someone’s life every day.
He is survived by his son, Max Allen “Al” Reams and wife Dinah, his daughter, Kit Reams Bryant and husband Rick, his grandchildren, Anna Locke and husband Chris, Andrew Reams and wife Lindsay, Katelyn Wolfe and husband Tyler, Stephanie Jacobson and husband Clint, Payton Bryant, and Chris Bryant.
He is also survived by his bonus blessing children Charla Cooper and husband Tony, Jane Wright and husband Bobby, and Joyce Ross, and his bonus blessing grandchildren John Cooper and wife Daniele, Sara Vonderheide and husband Jarod, Laura McKinnie, Duncan McKinnie and wife Anna, and Mandy Ross. He had sixteen great grandchildren. He was so very, very proud of his family!
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Jackson Brookdale Oaks for the many years of love and care he received there. A very special thank you for the love, care and honor provided by the Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN where he spent his final months. It was a blessing.
