A Celebration of Life

Mary Ann Thomason

February 19, 1939- May 21, 2025

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3

Mary Ann Jones Thomason of Nashville, Tn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the age of 86 while in the care Alive Hospice Residence.

Born in Niota, TN on February 19, 1939, Mary Ann was the youngest daughter of the late Oscar and Carrie Kennedy Jones. She was originally named Mary Anna, but at a young age chose to go by Mary Ann, dropping the final “a”.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darful H. Thomason, Jr., her parents and her siblings, Clarene Bagwell, Roy Jones and Lewis Jones.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Carrie (Robert) Guy of Baytown, TX, James (Jenny)Randolph, Jr., of White House, TN and Teresa (Tony) Larkins of Burns, TN.; her three step-children, Charlotte (John) Kirkland of Jackson, TN, Steve (Fran) Thomason of Apollo Beach, FL, and Brad (Dawn) Thomason of Jackson, TN, eleven grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Joshua (Janie), Jamie (Matt), Justin (Giovanna), Ryan (Chauntay), Erin (Robbie), Justin (Brianna), Josh (Amber), Kyle, Tyler, and Brooke, and thirteen great-grandchildren of whom she loved much.

Mary Ann’s faith was the foundation of her life. Raised in the the Nazarene Church in Sweetwater, TN, she later became a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Nashville, TN for twenty-five years. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Jackson where she attended Love & Truth and later became a member of Abundant Life Fellowship in the Nashville area, pastored by her son-in-law, Tony Larkins. Though declining health kept her from regular church attendance, she never stopped encouraging people to attend church and to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

After graduating from McMinn County High School, Mary Ann volunteered at Sweetwater Hospital before dedicating herself to raising her children. Once they were in school, she worked as manager of Lerner’s Clothing Store in Rivergate, followed by a position at Middle TN Food Distributor. She later enjoyed a fulfilling 25-year career as a supervisor with Heldman Brokerage Company in Nashville before retiring.

Mary Ann and Darful shared a love of travel and together visited England, Italy, Canada, and destinations across the United States - memories she treasured. She also had a gift for decorating, hosting and making a beautiful home. In her final years, she lived at Harmony Bellevue, where she made friendships and was loved by her close neighbors and caregivers alike. She will be missed by all.
