Martha was born on October 28, 1934 in Henderson, TN. She was the daughter of the late Ezra Little and Hattie Jones Little. She grew up in the Mifflin Community and graduated at Chester County High School. After her graduation Martha got a job at a bank in Memphis, TN where her Uncle and Aunt, Homer and Molene Jones lived. She stayed with them during the week and commuted home by bus on the weekends. While in high school she met her future husband. She left her job in Memphis and moved back home to marry the love of her life, Billy Joe Thomas. She also worked for a short period of time at McCowat-Mercer Packaging Inc. in Jackson, Tn.Martha deeply loved all of her family and spent most of her life sacrificially investing in and caring for them. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. You were always welcomed into her home where she would have a hot meal ready. Martha was also a good seamstress. She worked many hours with Hattie, her mother, on multiple projects & quilts. Martha loved the Lord and her church family. She served alongside Billy Joe at Nebo UMC after marrying him, February 19, 1954. They settled in the Beech Bluff Community and raised their family there. Martha is proceeded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Thomas. She is also proceeded in death by her son, Terry, who is survived by his wife Teresa, their son Michael Thomas and his wife Andrea and their children, Nate, Abby, Amelia and Mattie Jane, as well as their daughter Jamie Pettigrew and her husband Ray and their children, Ben, Brody, Blake and Hattie Anne. Martha is also survived by her other son, Steve Thomas and his wife Donna and their son Scott Thomas and his wife Amy and their children Payton and Brandon, as well as their daughter Lindsey Spencer and her husband Josh and their children Olivia, Barrett and Charles.Services: A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The service will begin at 10:00 am, Monday, January 27, 2025, also at Arringtons.
