Larry Dodson Fowler, age 76, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on May 16, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, Larry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an enduring love of family and sports.
Larry earned his bachelor's degree from Union University, where he played on the tennis team and was an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. His bonds with his fraternity brothers remained strong throughout his life, reflecting the importance he placed on friendship and loyalty. After college, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, having been drafted in 1972 and serving honorably until 1978.
Following his military service, Larry pursued a career in sales. He worked for the last several years for Americhoice owned by special friends Bill and Nita Farmer, where he built a reputation for his commitment and integrity. Beyond his professional life, Larry’s passion for sports was well known; he was a dedicated Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) official for many years, having also officiated earlier in Mississippi. His enthusiasm for athletics extended to his lifelong love of Kentucky basketball, a sport that brought him immense joy.
Larry’s true pride and greatest accomplishment was his family, whom he loved above all else. His devotion to those closest to him was evident to all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost twenty years, Helen Barnette Fowler; children, Matthew Dodson Fowler (Gail) and Timothy Scott Fowler, both of Tupelo, and his extra children Emily Buter Camden (Todd) of Amarillo, Texas, and Mark D. Butler of Nashville; grandchildren, Jade Fowler (Nathan), Ellie Fowler, Ali Butler Estes (Tyler), and Chloe Fayth Camden; great-grandchildren, Everlee Moon and Candace Hardin, Blake Elliott Camden, and Ransom James Estes; and siblings, Henry Y. "Hap" Fowler, III (Brenda) of Jackson, Joy Fowler Sharp (Butch) of Memphis, and Sherry Fowler Morton (Jon) of Longview, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Y. Fowler, Jr. and Geraldine Davis Fowler.
