Lannie Thomas Spraggs, Sr., lovingly known as “Pepaw” to his grandchildren and family, passed away on July 10, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age of 67. Born in 1957 in Mayfield, Kentucky, Lannie lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Lannie was a proud professional truck driver by trade, a career he passionately pursued for over 30 years. He logged millions of miles during his time on the road, earning the respect of his peers and the deep admiration of his family. Whether behind the wheel of a big rig, cheering on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats, watching John Wayne one day and wrestling the next, Lannie lived life with enthusiasm and heart. His heart was full of Kentucky blue, and his love for Reese’s and banana pudding was unmatched.
Lannie’s life was defined by his deep love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Terry Spraggs, who was also his best friend and faithful companion. He was a proud father and stepfather to his sons Lannie Spraggs, Jr. and Justin Spraggs, both of Mayfield, KY, and Jeff Wall (Amy) of Jackson, TN.
He was the cherished "Pepaw" to five grandchildren: Aidan Spraggs of Mayfield, and Hannah Wall, Abby Wall, Emma Wall, and Cooper Wall—all of Jackson, TN. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Lannie is also survived by his sisters Betty Fulcher (Mark) and Tena Lee (Gary), both of Mayfield, KY, and his brother Jeff Spraggs, also of Mayfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Spraggs; his mother, Tena Lamm; and his sister, Teresa Elliott.
To know Lannie was to know a man who loved deeply and gave freely. He cared for others with quiet strength and fierce loyalty. He never failed to say, “I love you more,” a phrase that, fittingly, was also his final words. He was stubborn in the best of ways, quick-witted, compassionate, and larger than life.
Whether it was a family cookout, a long conversation, a silly joke, a game of cards, singing his favorite country tunes, or pranking his grandchildren, Lannie made every moment count. He loved big, laughed loud, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Mr. Spraggs wished only for a graveside service. It will be held at Ridgecrest Cemetery, 200 Ridgecrest Rd, Jackson, Tennessee, at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, with Pastor Bryant Newell of North Jackson Baptist Church officiating.
