Keith Lavaughn McCaskill, age 69, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 22, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Born on Friday, August 24,1956, in Jackson, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Troy and Maxine Priddy McCaskill.
Keith was known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and a sense of humor that brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him. From a young age, Keith had an inquisitive mind and an enthusiasm for learning. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1974 and went on to earn his associate’s degree.
His career was as a tool designer working at Maytag, Olean Tile, and J&J Machine. Keith was a handyman who was versatile in maintenance, repairs, and creating items for others. He was dedicated to his trade and took pride in a job well done.
Growing up in the 1970s, Keith developed a lifelong love for the music of that era and attended many concerts over the years. His favorite artists included James Taylor and Bob Seger. Keith often said, "Real music died after the '70s."
A history buff, Keith was particularly interested in the Civil War, always eager to learn more and share that knowledge. Aside from history, he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Faith was an important part of Keith’s life. He loved the Lord and when his health no longer allowed him to attend church, he watched services on television.
Those surviving to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Jill Shelton McCaskill of Jackson; their son, Trent McCaskill of Jackson; two brothers, Norris McCaskill of Beech Bluff, TN and Glen McCaskill and his wife Teresa of Beech Bluff, TN, sister-in-law, Sandra McCaskill; a special nephew, Daryl McCaskill, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Other than his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brothers, Don McCaskill and Doug McCaskill and sisters-in-law, Nancy McCaskill and Pam McCaskill.
A memorial gathering for friends and family to honor and remember Keith will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family asks that any memorial donations be given to: For The Caregivers, 1651 Hollywood Drive, Jackson, TN 38301 or online at forthecaregivers.org.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Annette Spain for her help and kindness throughout the years.
Keith’s presence will be dearly missed, but the memory of his kindness, wit, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
