Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Webster passed away at home on September 6, 2024, in Greenfield, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving children. She was 83 years old at the time of her death, but she would insist that she was and is 41.
Kathy was born in Jackson, Tennessee on November 27, 1940, to the late Virgil and Mae Patton Thomas. Her mother passed away when she was 23 days old. She and her siblings were then raised by their maternal grandmother, Elisabeth Bates Flippin.
She graduated from Northside High School in Jackson, Tennessee. She began her career as a dispatcher in Chester County, later working and retiring in Madison County. While there she earned recognition for exemplary service and dedication to her community.
Through the years Kathy was active in church, initially joining North Jackson Baptist Church as a young girl. She later actively viewed First Baptist Church in Marion, Illinois from her home.
Kathy found happiness in shopping, specifically on QVC. She enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains, creating cherished memories with her dear friend, Carol.
Her greatest treasures were her three grandsons, who affectionately called her Nana.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bill Webster (Angela) and Lisa Wise (Chad); grandchildren, Kirby Woodruff, Chandler Martindale, and Elias Webster; and sister, Virginia Thomas.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Thomas and Gerald Thomas.
A funeral service will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Jerry Elston officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
As we remember Kathy, let us celebrate the everlasting impact she made on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
