Obituary

Julie Ann Slovekosky, aged 60, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at her residence in Beech Bluff, TN, after a sudden Illness.

She was born on September 7, 1965, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of the late Lawrence E and Marlene R. Hoaglan. Julie was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew her. She spent her life nurturing and caring for others, both in her personal circles and through her professional career.

Julie's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was the cherished wife of forty-three years to Kenneth Slovekosky, and together they built a life full of love and laughter. Her legacy of kindness and compassion lives on through her children, Jeremy Slovekosky and his wife Cristi, Michael Slovekosky and his wife Stephanie, and her adoring daughter, Michelle Kessinger. Julie's brothers, Lawrence Hoaglan, Jr. with his wife Sheila, Timothy Hoaglan with his wife Marion, and Danny Hoaglan, along with her sisters, Linda Lawrence and Kathleen Thompson, will remember her as the guiding star of their family. Julie's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of her grandchildren, Tristan Kessinger, Isabelle Slovekosky, and Jeremy Slovekosky, who will carry the cherished memories of their grandmother's love and kindness with them always.

Along with her parents she was preceded by a sister, Pamela Wardell and two brothers, Raymond and Dennis Hoaglan.

She attended West Tennessee Business College and dedicated herself to a career in healthcare. As a certified Nurse's Assistant, she worked in private duty, home health, and Brookdale Memory Care, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her selflessness and passion for caregiving. Her colleagues and patients alike will remember Julie as a person who brought comfort and a sense of peace to every interaction.

Julie's Christian faith was a guiding principle in her life, providing her with strength and solace. Her relationship with God was personal and profound, and it influenced every aspect of her life, from how she raised her family to how she treated her patients and friends.

An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Julie followed the team with fervor, celebrating their victories and standing by them through every season. Her favorite players, Freddie Freeman and Ozzie Albies, brought her great joy, and she rarely missed a game. Julie's love for the Braves was just one example of her passionate nature, a trait that infused everything she did.

Julie's interests reflected her love for life and the joy she found in simple pleasures. Pepsi Cola was her favorite drink, and she relished in the delight of sipping a cold one while cheering on her beloved Braves or while preparing a feast for her family. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, a season she filled with warmth, incredible cooking, and an open heart. Her culinary skills were second to none, and her kitchen was often the heart of her home, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her delicious creations.

Described as kind, selfless, and passionate, Julie's impact on the world was profound. She loved people unconditionally and had a natural gift for taking care of others. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a source of joy, and her actions a testament to the love she had for her family, friends, and community.
