Joyce Dismuke Long, born December 22, 1935 in Jackson, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Collierville, TN.
Joyce was a 1953 graduate of North Side High School in Jackson. Following high school she married Carl Long, the love of her life, and they were married for 69 years (July 16, 1953) before Carl's passing in November 2022.
In her early years Joyce worked at Sears in the Audit Department and then worked at East Elementary as school secretary. Following her job at East, Joyce spent many years working at Leaders Credit Union (formerly Teachers Credit Union). In 1985 Joyce began working at Union University as the Payroll/HR Coordinator and in May 1994 retired from Union.
For everyone who was blessed to know Joyce, they knew she was first and foremost a woman of God. Her witness and example to others showed the love of Christ in all she did. Joyce Long made a huge difference in this world, impacting many lives. She and Carl were life- long members of Englewood Baptist Church, joining in in 1960.
Joyce is survived by son Rick Long (Wendy) of Franklin, TN; daughter Carla Little (Ronnie) of Collierville, TN; son Philip Long (Ammie) of Marion, NC; sister Sue Dismuke Henson of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Brian Long (Christine), Lindsey Long, Bethany Little Adamski (David), Brad Little (Katie), Jonathan Little, Mary Catherine Long Fulmer (Philip), Molly Long Griffin (Matt), and Emily Long Prewitt; 8 precious great-grandchildren, Alayna Adamski, Abigal Adamski, Carter Long, Clara Little, Audrey Adamski, Hank Fulmer, Amelia Fulmer, and Woods Griffin, as well as many loving nephews and nieces.
Other than her parents, Bob and Lucille Dismuke, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Long, and sister, Gayle Dismuke Malone.
SERVICES: Joyce's Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The receiving of friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
