Obituary

John Joseph "Joe" Stockton, a man of faith and boundless love, departed from this earthly realm on November 29, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on November 7, 1955, in Pensacola, Florida, Joe's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of the human spirit.

Joe's journey began as the cherished son of Horace Stockton and Louise Stockton Collins, and he grew up under the watchful eyes of his loving grandparents, Elva and RL Gilliam, and Joe and Wanita Stockton. Joe's father was in the Navy that took his family to many different schools and states including Florida, California, Texas, and Hawaii and back to Tennessee. His time in Jackson was marked by his attending Jackson Junior High and graduating from Jackson Central Merry High School in 1974 playing Trumpet in both bands. He was an active member of Young Life where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

A diligent and hardworking man, Joe provided for his family through various occupations. His dedication shone through every task he undertook, from construction and truck driving to manufacturing. Joe spent several fruitful years with Printpack as a printing press operator, where he was known for his meticulous work and team spirit.

A devout Christian, Joe's life reflected his faith. He ministered to many, offering comfort and guidance to families at Westover Baptist Church, where he also served as a respected deacon. Joe's calling did not end there; he pastored at White's Chapel and two small churches in Dickson, Tennessee. His beautiful tenor voice was a gift he shared generously, touching hearts as a member of the Brotherhood Quartet.

Joe's zest for life was evident in the joy he found in every moment with his family. From the jokester to the prayer warrior, Joe was a cornerstone of his extended family. He is survived by his loving sons, John Stockton and Kevin Stockton, and daughter-in-law, Kacey; and his sister, Teresa Stockton Irvine and his stepfather, Tony Collins, many nieces, nephews as well as precious great nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Sandra Diane Kail Stockton in 2017, two brothers Dave and Tony Stockton as well as, and his parents, Horace and Louise.

Remembering his loving nature, Joe was the embodiment of friendship and faith. His presence was a beacon of light in the lives of those he encountered. Joe's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his beliefs. He leaves behind a community enriched by his generosity and a family fortified by his love.
