Obituary

Joe Moore went to heaven on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Brookdale Memory Care of Jackson, at 81 years of age. Born in Kennett, MO, on October 19, 1941, he was the son of Oby Jewel and Carrie Carter Moore. Joe was very patriotic from a young age serving his country in the Army National Guard. He had great respect for the flag and love for our country. He was a long-time member of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson where he served as a deacon and childrens Sunday school teacher. He had a thirty-five year career with Brown Shoe Company before starting his own home improvement business. He was an avid bass fisherman and also enjoyed working with wood and making many items for family and friends. His passion was his family and the ever present love he showed them as a husband, father, papaw, and great papaw. His love for Jesus was demonstrated by the way he served his family, friends, church and community. Joe is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Joanna Campbell Moore of Jackson, TN; his daughter, Melinda Leake and husband Chip of Franklin, TN; his son, Michael Moore and wife Kim of Murfreesboro, TN; a brother, Gary Moore and a sister, Lavern Smith both of Galena, MO; eight grandchildren, Christian Leake (Haley), Kansas Bentz (Seth), Katy Moore, Noah Leake (Mary Ashley), Kennedy Radel (Zach), Kimberlee Barkman (Sam), James Michael Kinder (Rhyan) and Justen Kinder (Ainsley) and ten great grandchildren, Grayson, Darby, Evy, Bonnie, Campbell, Robert, Kai, Wyatt, Monroe and Ozzy. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Carol Warren, Tommy Moore, and L.R. Moore. SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2023, in the chapel of Englewood Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Mandrell officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 24 at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church, Monday, January 23, 2023, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers are Darrell Allen, Gary Carter, Rod Parker, Mike Steinbach, Christian Leake and Noah Leake.
